Yummy Raspberry Scones

So now I have all these raspberries to use up; this was my go at it.....
Combine:
3 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
6tsp baking powder
1/2tsp salt

Cut in:
3/4 cup cold butter

Mix seperately:
2 tbsp lemon juice
2tsp vanilla extract
1 cup milk
(This will be a brownish, thick, sour milk. Don't be alarmed)

Pour wet mixture over flour mixture and mix with a fork only enough to form a dough ball. Over mixing will make scones too dense.

Add:
1 1/2 cup frozen raspberries
(I used fresh but I recommend frozen as they are not as fragile)

You can either roll the dough out like buscuits or just make 1" blobs like I did. Place on parchment paper on baking sheet.

Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes (depends on size).
Enjoy for a warm afternoon snack on a rainy day like this.

This is what happens when Wren plays with grandma H....

Obsessed with keys right now.

She's got this look on her face that is so proud.

"Look momma I'm reading!"

Crazy lioness

...and she figured out something was on her head.

Oops that's not the right way.

Have a super de duper monday!

Post Baby Body

Well Wren has just turned 9 months and I've been getting lots of compliments on my body lately so I thought I'd share a little of the journey with you. First of all, it was no secret that I didn't like being pregnant. I felt big, awkward, and ugly. But being pregnant has brought the two greatest blessings to me. The biggest and first one is Wren, obviously (we love her to death)! And the second one was a bit unexpected to me, the birth of my self confidence. I've always struggled with the number on the scale or the size of my pants or this tiny bulge here or there and maybe even having it consume me while I always thought of how I appeared to the world. With that being said, 9 months post partum (about the craziest, traumatic thing your body will go through in a life time, stretch marks and all), I have come to not only accecpt this body but somehow love it. I've lost ALL 50lbs of baby weight plus 10lbs more. I've been blessed now with the capicity to look at my body as an amazing thing and because of that I have a whole lot more respect for myself so I treat my body well and listen to it. Anyways I don't want this to be a huge long post all about me and my victories but just thought I'd share a little bit. Here are some pics along the way.
This was right before going to the hospital, I still needed to pack my bag.

This was 30-something weeks

Right after Wren was born.

Ron&Ayla's wedding: 4 months post baby.

Blueberry planting: 5 months post baby.

Last week: 9 months post baby

2 days ago: 9 months post baby

Now lots of people ask me what I have been doing to get here and I can honestly say, "not that much actually". However, I do maybe have a few tips up my sleeve (especially with my PTS now) so I thought I should do a weekly tip......let me know what you guys think.

Berry Pickin'

It's that time of year again. When the berries are so ripe that you smell the sweetness as you walk by.....mmmhhmm. We were a bit too late for strawberries but we picked lots of raspberries and we have come to the conclusion that they are the most friendliest to pick since they are at eye level.
Apprently Lane said "make a funny face", I guess I didn't hear that part.

Take two....

Had to have a taste of the deliciousness

"Yup I think I like em"

A little modest on how much we picked this year

The market was so cute and had amazing fresh produce

See the sign even says so

We brought them home and make some jam. Well I can't really take credit for this part, Lane did most of it while Wren and I skyped with grandmaT and auntyNaya

Finished product

The Men in Wren's World

Since Wren was born, it's been so clear that she is a girl and a very girly one at that. But sometimes, every once and a while, (ok let's be honest, all the time) she gets drawn towards the opposite sex. Evidence in the past couple weeks.......

This boy was so cute. He was so concerned for her all the time and would make sure she would get a drink and would pick the flowers for her and give them to her, Wren gladly received his generosity obviousily.

"Excuse me sir, can I play with your blocks?" Wren

"Wow this is just all too exciting with TWO boys' arms around me, I can barely take it" Wren

"I wanna touch your face. Here I come, like it or not" Wren

"Well hello up there"

"You look cute, I think I might like you" Caleb

Yup he went for it: 100%

"I could very well get used to this" Wren

I believe I have a very different outlook than most moms when it comes to my daughter and boys because I realised it's the men in my life that have given me the most happiness. They have taught me things that as a girl I don't always see: "how am I supposed to relax when there's dishes to be done?!" or as a girl, I see too much of: "are you serious? You really can't notice my underwear line?". So I want Wren to enjoy boys and respect them, they are so different than girls and we as girls can learn so much from them! Cheers to all them men.
