Cravings

These are my cravings lately. Lots of sour and salty things and fruit....oh and milk to wash it all down. Does this mean its a boy or girl? What are your guesses?

Half way there!

Last night was one of those nights where I just could not get to sleep. I made a mental list of all the things we still need to do and I'm not sure if the outcome was a good thing or a bad thing because now it's just left me overwhelmed. We are, however, at week 20 which is fantastic knowing that this little gaffer is still growing strong and we will be parents in 20 weeks (give or take)!

Mother's Day

To all the moms!

Well as Lane would say, I'm only a half mother this year but I can't help thinking every day what kind of a mother I will be. Will I be too hard or too easy on our kids? Will I show them the difference between right and wrong and what's truly important in life? Will I be a good Christ-like example to them? Lane and I have the privileged of going to Jordan and Kyriel's wedding on Friday and her Dad gave a beautiful speech. I won't forget what he said about raising a family, "What you do, your children will do and what's important to you, will be important to your children and most of all what you love, your children will love." I'm so glad there are so many great parents and moms out there who are so selfless and I hope that I can take from their example.
I have been wanting a good camera to get into photography with as a hobby so for mother's day, Lane got me this 70's camera. It still needs a lens but I'm very excited to start playing around with it!

My steady growing belly.

Every time I wake up in the morning, I look in the mirror at how fast and how much my body is changing. I've worked out a few days but not too much because I'm scared of cutting of oxygen or rattling the baby around or something. It just feels different that's all. I've put on 10 pounds already which is hard to see on the scale but am grateful that its because of a new life and that makes it easier to handle. But what's WAY easier to handle is this second trimester! It does have its new 'fun surprises' but they seem much more manageable than the vomiting and bad nausea.
We are excited to have our big ultrasound scheduled to find out the gender so we are literally counting down the days, it will just be so nice to put a name to our baby and feel more attached to it (and then we don't have to refer to it as "it" either lol).
Well here's a few pictures from previous weeks. Enjoy!

Drum roll please......

This post makes all my other ones seem like fluff haha... Just weeks after getting the news that it would be impossible for us to conceive without the help of medical aid, we found out we were pregnant! (Actually we probably were already when they told us that we couldn't). Either way, we definitely feel so blessed and to say that this is such a God-sent miracle message would definitely be an understatement. It's an overwhelming and humbling feeling that this is actually US that are expecting. We've both been very grateful for all the support from family and friends and I've been so glad for my wonderful husband who cooks supper for me and lets me take LOTS of naps.
Our big day is November 1st (01/11/11) which seems so close and yet so far away.
Here are some belly pictures, however, they were taken at night so they aren't the most flattering :P

Our Pretty (fun) Weekend

So I had a birthday and valentines had past.....exciting week in other words (and busy for Lane). We had decided since I was working valentines night that we would celebrate it on Friday evening. I also took off Saturday so that we could celebrate my birthday together. If any of youknow, I haven't had a Saturday off in a VERY long time so this was extra special.

Friday Evening:

I had the day off so I had a lot of time to prepare a delicious supper with parmesan chicken, seasoned asparagus, and whole wheat pasta in a creamy homemade alfredo sauce. It actually turned out quite well for not having that much experience in the kitchen. I set the table all pretty with pink flowers, chocolates and candles. It was the prefect valentines!

Saturday:

Lane made me vanilla crepes in the morning (out of Mum's scrapbook cookbook) which were absolutely delicious. We then packed a lunch and headed towards Allouette lake, quite far past it actually, to the Lower Falls hike. Even though the sun was shining it was very chilly and unexpected when we got into the thick trees. It was about and hour and a half each way.

Then since the hike wasn't as long as we expected we headed to the city to look at wetsuits on West 4th. I love that street! I'm so glad I'll be spending a whole lot more time there soon (I'll get to that part...).

Sunday:

Well the usual in the morning. But this sun isn’t so usual, however, I’m definitely not complaining! After lunch we were inspired to get some supplies to start planting. Ron made me a window box for Christmas so we wanted to fill that first. Lane installed it and the we went up the street to Triple Tree. Amazing place, I could literally spend all day there but we were far too excited because this time we were actually buying stuff!

The supplies
Pretty window box

We also transplanted the grape vine, blueberry bush and daisies to the side of the house
All in all it was a fantastic weekend. I couldn't have asked for more! Oh and before I forget, on my birthday, I had an interview. The interview was for the gym I go to (Fitness Unlimited) to do reception work. I really need a second job so that I can save for the September yoga program at Semperviva on West 4th. This is the perfect opportunity and although most people don't see this as a dream job, I was so excited when I got the call. This is actually starting to look really good for me. It feels totally right and not forced at all. I couldn't be more excited for this job, it will open up so many possibilities!

Santa clause is coming to town......

Yay! I could not be more stoked for christmas this year! We are planning on going to Calgary for a whole week (which I booked off) to relax and have a white christmas. So we are doing homemade presents this year and I've been hard at work on them (sorry if I posted pictues, it would just ruin it) and having tons of fun. Also the saturday before christmas will be mine and Lane's 1 year anniversary. So I'm also trying to plan a little something for that too because you only ever get one of the first yr anniversary lol. I feel like a little kid. Like we are turning 1 or something. All in all I'm just really excited for christmas. Having the time off, making the presents, going to calgary to spend time with our family, just every bit of it! I'll take pictures of the projects and post them after christmas.

I'm also super excited that I'm making an appointment to see a dermatologist. I know it's not that interesting to anyone else, but this gives me hope that I can have normal skin. I was at Lynda Calverley's PartyLite party and a lady said to me (who has gorgeous, flawless skin), "oh yours isn't even that bad. What are you worried about?" well first off I really don't like to hear comments like that from people who have never suffered from severe and noticable skin issues. What is that saying again, don't preach what you can't practice....oh no, it's practice what you preach or in other words, don't dabble about something that you have absolutely no clue about (that also goes for people who get ONE pimple around their period). Anyways you have probably noticed that it's something I absolutely DO feel strongly about because at this point it's really affecting my life and stopping me from moving forward, so that being said, you can see why Im estactic for this appointment with the dermatologist!!!! And maybe it will be Santa's present to me...

Emily and Jave

Last night we had one of Lane`s school friends over and her boyfriend, Emily and Jave. We agreed to try `hot pot` for dinner. So first things first, we went to T&T in Coquitlium. And ahh what a fun experience, you never know what anything is and they have such interesting vegetables there. So we got our ingredients........lamb, calamari, fish balls, cabbage, squash and rice of course.

Then you cook it in boiling water. Everything in there at once. Crazy eh

Here we are being shown how it`s done by Emily and Jave.

And I even tried some. Not everything but some of it. It was really good.

For dessert Lane and I decided to go Australian and introduce them to Pavlova. Mmmhmm so tasty that......

We had the appetite for some fun and games. WOW Cranium and Dutch Blitz of course!

Lane and I won WOW Cranium (it was a close call though). And I won the first game of Dutch Blitz and Lane won the second.

Our shining scores haha...

....

I know, I know, it has been over a month. But what am I supposed to blog about when nothing interesting is going on? Well maybe I'll pull a few strings and just tell you the boring. Lane and I went rock climbing last week and it was a blast. We found out that there is a wall like 5 minutes from our house! How cool is that?! .......And I'm dreading this, but I need to find a doctor to figure out whats wrong with me. I've heard from 2 people just today that I have been looking really pasty lately, I have dizzy spells where I can't see anything and have fainted a few times, I've had numerous anxiety attacks can not remember things (like what someone said 2 seconds ago) as well as can't concentrate.....anyways the list keeps getting bigger the longer I leave it. But I don't like doctors and last week when I had a blood test done, I fainted and was out for a good 10 minutes. I really have not been feeling good and I hope it is not going to be anything too serious but I am worried and it's all I can think about. I even tried to brainstorm christmas present ideas but am just drawn back to all this.......ahh well it wasn't pretty or happy but that's the update on my absense this past month
